February 21, 20200

Glen Allen, VA–  Andrew Knaggs, Republican candidate in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, released his newest advertisement this week focused on his background. In the advertisement, Knaggs discusses his career, education, and his service to the country, stating that he is not a politician.

“I am not a politician. I have never run for office before, but I have served.”

Knaggs focuses on his background as a West Point graduate, a Green Beret, a Bronze Star Recipient, and as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense to President Donald Trump. In his role at the Department of Defense (DoD,) Knaggs led the department’s policies regarding special operations and combatting terrorism.

After serving as a Green Beret, Knaggs went on to William & Mary Law School and became an attorney. He started his own law firm and worked with business to navigate difficult government regulations. With his legal background, Knaggs not only understands defense policy, but has a deep understanding of the burdensome regulations that businesses face.

During law school, Knaggs also served as the president of William & Mary’s chapter of the Federalist Society- a conservative organization that advocates for an originalist interpretation of the Constitution.

Knaggs’s work as a conservative advocate continued after college as well. After building his home in Hanover County, he joined the Hanover County Republican Committee and served in a leadership role in that group.

Knaggs is a candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District and when he becomes the Republican nominee, he will face Abigail Spanberger in November’s election.
